Google Classroom for PBL Scaffolding

I love the way Google Classroom makes it so easy for me to assign the news articles from Newsela for my students and also for my students to turn in their summaries, research etc. online in the Google Classroom. Grading becomes easier without having to put up with the lot of paper work. Technology is great!! Love it! Today my students are analyzing the UNEP report on solid waste an chemical waste management.
They are getting better at their skills of interpretation the Graphs, scientific research and also with the Vocabulary associated in understanding the Global Solid waste management
patterns, issues and solutions.

It is so interesting that you made this post. I keep telling everyone that my downfall in education will be the technology. I can do enough to get by. Hopefully it wont advance too much in the next 8 years or maybe I can keep up enough to continue to get by.

  2. Jigna - THIS is a great example of providing the necessary framework to encourage sustained inquiry. Students are constantly evaluating what they know with what they need to know. When this occurs, essentially students are monitoring and scaffolding their own learning! Thank you for sharing this strategy with us!

  3. Jigna,

Do your students turn in their assignments on time? I wonder because I have used Google classroom and can do well grading the ones that turn then in on time but struggle with a good way to grade the ones that are late. Did you find an easy way to keep track of this? I am new to all that Google has to offer this year and am trying to keep up.
My goal for midterms is to make sure that I have a Google form so that midterms can be graded immediately and responses sent to my students. I am hoping that feedback will be valuable to them. If I can find time over the Thanksgiving break I will do a practice test for them to make sure they have feedback ahead of time and also make sure I do it correctly!
